Allison Carmichael - Creative Artist, Illustrator and Graphic Designer

Original graphic design

Allison has had 25 years experience in the arts (including graphic design and illustration), since she graduated from Goldsmith's University College of London.

Allison works as a freelance graphic designer, creating promotional material such as brochures, business cards, logos and website design and also working from her own initiative on a wide range of art projects.

She loves to incorporate symbolism in her design work, particularly feminine symbolism. This is perhaps most apparent in The Da Vinci Game, a board game which has playing pieces and board spaces that all represent the female - the owl, chalice, shell, etc.

Allison works with the 1 Website Designer team to create beautiful websites. She applies her graphic design skills to ensure that the websites are well laid out, attractively designed and have beautiful logos, banners or other elements within them.

As well as entire websites, Allison can create Flash animations (including animated logos) and works with SEO expert, Martin Woods to ensure websites appear high with search engines.

Landscape and portrait paintings

In addition to creative expression through computer art, Allison also paints portrait and landscape paintings.

Allison's landscape paintings are inspired by the beauty of South France - the rich, red earth and the incredible blue skies of this area, with many paintings featuring castles, vineyards or the Mediterranean sea.

Her portrait paintings transform the human form into angels or fairies, adding an element of playfulness and humour to all her paintings.

Allison is one of the featured illustrators in Martin Dawber's Big Book of Contemporary Illustration, released in September 2009.

Six of Allison's illustrations were chosen to feature in this large coffee table book featuring 160 international illustrators.

Allison illustrated the cover and internal illustrations for Tara Shilling's book And Anyway About Me, released in August 2009.

And Anyway About Me is a hilarious 'self-help' book for Drama Queens.

50 Famous Illustrations
Allison designed a series of 50 images of famous people from the worlds of music, film and art.

The portrait illustrations are drawn in a loose, relaxed style in sepia and grey tone.

Allison co-created and fully illustrated The Da Vinci Game, pictured above.

Allison also created the graphic design for 2 other board games - Liar Liar and Eurobabble, both by Pants on Fire Games and released in summer 2009.
