Downtown doyenne and culture chronicler Rose Hartman has documented the world of fashion in New York and across the globe for more than three decades. Here, she offers her best-of picks for where to see and be seen in and around Chelsea.
For a much-needed change of pace and some fresh air, I hopped a Metro North train for a 40-minute ride from Manhattan to Tarrytown, NY. (For a view of the Hudson in all its glory, take a seat on the left). A short walk from the station, Main Street is sprinkled with charming boutiques, restaurants and galleries. Once there, you will find the Tappan Z Gallery, where former Chelsea Hotel resident Susan Olmetti’s vibrant oils are now on view through September, fresh off her show at the Chelsea. Visit www.tappanzgallery.com to view the works of Olmetti and other artists.
